At the heart of the new LUX MED headquarters lies "Water Island," an installation that redefines the concept of the office hydration station. Winner of the Best Office of the Year 2024, this project moves beyond utility to create a workplace ritual. By combining advanced 3D modelling with hand-crafted local glass, we created a sculptural social anchor. Water Island offers five distinct mineral profiles to support cognitive performance, proving that design can be an active tool for wellbeing and ESG strategy.

Healing nature design
Water Island is the focal point of the broader "Healing Nature Design" concept developed for the LUX MED headquarters. As a healthcare leader, the client required a workspace that embodies health in physical practice, not just policy. The installation serves as a micro-restoration station designed to interrupt the frantic pace of the workday. It is driven by a specific behavioral insight: in moments of distraction, we typically reach for our phones to check emails. Water Island aims to rewire this habit, encouraging employees to replace that digital "twitch" with a few sips of water. This is critical for productivity, as studies show that even a 2% drop in hydration can significantly impair focus, slow cognitive processing, and increase stress levels.


Five profiles for five needs
Water Island acts as a functional pharmacy of hydration, offering five distinct mineral water profiles tailored to different physiological needs — from stress reduction and cardiovascular support to daily balance and concentration. Beyond its physiological benefits, the island serves as a "social anchor point." Its centralised location and circular form encourage informal encounters, reviving the classic "water cooler moment" but elevating it into a conscious ritual of health that builds a community culture around shared wellbeing habits.
ESG strategy
The project is a tangible manifestation of LUX MED’s holistic ESG strategy, aligning physical space with corporate values. Environmentally, the station drastically reduces the plastic footprint and eliminates transport emissions through energy-efficient on-site filtration. Socially, it acts as an educational tool that fosters a culture of wellbeing through "micro-rituals." From a governance perspective, it creates a physical touchpoint for the company's broader CSR and sustainability commitments, demonstrating that responsible design can tangibly improve the daily work life.

Sculptural geometry
The installation creates a bridge between advanced engineering and artisanal tradition. Technologically, it was realised using 3D modelling and precision laser-cut components to achieve an organic, welcoming geometry that naturally draws people in. To contrast this industrial precision, the exterior features hand-formed glass crafted by local makers. This artisanal approach adds a layer of warmth and tactility that standard office equipment lacks, turning the station into a light-refracting art piece that celebrates water as a life-giving element.
