Oceanic:

elegance and harmony

2019 - Warsaw

WORKPLACE

Details

The new Warsaw office for Oceanic is a study in "boutique" precision. Designed as a showcase for this award-winning cosmetics manufacturer, its interior translates the brand's core values — innovation, safety, and scientific rigour — into a spatial language. Inspired by the logic of Oceanic's R&D laboratories, the space is calm, hygienic, and essential, balancing the purity of a clinical environment with the prestige of a family-owned empire.

1

Translating values into space

Oceanic has been a pioneer in the industry for nearly 40 years, and the design challenge was to translate this evolution into a built environment. Moving away from decorative office themes, we developed a concept based on "laboratory-inspired clarity," creating a representative space that communicates the company’s scientific maturity through simple forms and precise geometry. While the space reflects the company’s global aspirations, it retains the intimacy of a "boutique" headquarters. Co-created with the owners to honour the family's legacy, the interior prioritises high-quality materials and an aesthetic of restraint that allows the products and achievements to take centre stage.

2

Focused vs. expressive zones

The floor plan is orchestrated to balance focus with brand expression. The dedicated work zones remain intentionally neutral and subdued to support concentration and credibility. In contrast, design accents and storytelling elements are concentrated in shared spaces — such as the reception, meeting areas, and circulation paths — where the brand comes alive for visitors.

The welcome experience

The entrance zone is choreographed to impress. Visitors are welcomed by a minimalist reception desk and a waiting room that functions like a gallery. A key architectural element here is the openwork bookcase, which serves a dual purpose: it acts as a transparent partition displaying the company’s awards and products, while subtly screening the workspace behind it.

3

The aesthetic of purity

Reflecting the environment where Oceanic’s formulations are developed, the office finish is practical and hygienic. We utilized pristine white backgrounds and hypoallergenic materials to create a sense of impeccable order. This "clinical" purity is not cold; it is uplifting, amplifying the natural light to create a luminous atmosphere that feels both professional and healthy.

Hidden functionality

To maintain the "showroom" quality of the office, everyday clutter is meticulously managed. A prime example is the coffee station located behind the reception: a sliding wall system allows unused kitchen appliances and service areas to be completely hidden. This ensures the arrangement remains "laboratory clean" at all times, reinforcing the narrative of perfection.

4

Longevity & soul

A key principle of the design was reusability. Recognizing the rapid growth of the organization, we designed many architectural and furniture elements to be modular. These components can be easily transferred to future locations, aligning the project with both economic foresight and sustainable thinking.

The soul of the office

Despite the laboratory inspiration, the office has a distinct "soul." The minimalist backdrop is punctuated by travel keepsakes and personal artefacts selected by the owners. These elements add a layer of warmth and storytelling, transforming the office from a sterile workspace into a reflection of the owners' personalities and the company’s rich history.
